Implementation of Lean Innovation

An ongoing operational excellence initiative was to be rolled out to all development areas and processes at a machine and plant manufacturer. For this purpose, in addition to the lean production methods of the operational areas, relevant lean innovation methods were implemented in the R&D areas, which differ significantly from the lean production methods due to the different focal points and types of activity.

Objective

Holistic implementation of selected elements of the Lean Innovation methodology in the context of a pilot development project in order to support a running operational excellence initiative

Lean Innovation Audit to determine the initial situation and fields of action
Piloting of Lean Innovation methods as part of a project to develop modular platforms
Implementation support by means of communication, change management and revision of the planning and management process

Results

Sustainable lean innovation implementation including anchoring of the methods in the processes and in the organization as well as training of all managers
Implementation of the modularization method as part of a pilot development project
